A Brief on Canadian Football – AKA Soccer

We educate the football player by taking her/him through the proper 3 stages of development:

  1. Beginners
  2. Pre-formation
  3. Formation

Beginners & pre-formation players share a common criteria like a beginner concert pianist “performing” her’s/his “scales”.
If a beginner & pre-formation player is not mastering the ball to the highest level of technicality by the age of 15, he or she will may great issues and extensive hurdles to overcome while leading up tp the formation levels of U21, U23 and reserve & finally pro-status.

Sadly in Canada, none of the above is being taken in consideration, thus resulting in a very poor showing of results with the game on the world stage!

The First Remedy

We must change the whole infrastructure of age grouping starting from last year beginners aged 11-12) & conform to countries such as France, who are  considered to have the best formation & youth development system & methods in the world.

The French Formation and Youth Development

Simply put, this ‘age-level’ structure and the appropriate corresponding training methods must be adopted immediately in Canada as we risk a poor showing when we co-organize the 2026 World Cup!

High level competitive age infrastructure in France is labelled as  U13, U15, U17 and U19 with an appellation: NATIONAUX.

In Canada our high level competitive age infrastructure is labelled as U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 with an appellation: REP.
